Your windshield might not be clear, but the facts are.
21%
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, around 21% of vehicle crashes are weather-related. Rain, sleet, snow, fog, and blowing debris reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions.1
15x
Weather-related vehicle crashes contribute to far more deaths than the combined impact of natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods – almost 15x as many fatalities nationwide.2

Read the report.
In 2023, our National Capital Region experienced an estimated 327 traffic fatalities, 14,000+ injuries, and 53,000+ crashes.3
Don’t be another statistic.
Properly functioning windshield wipers can be the reason you make it home safely.
FAQs
Windshield wipers are important automotive parts installed on the windshield of a vehicle to remove rain, snow, dirt, and other debris, ensuring clear visibility for the driver. The wiper assembly consists of a metal or plastic arm and a rubber blade that moves back and forth across the glass. Activated by a switch inside the car, windshield wipers typically have adjustable speeds to accommodate different weather conditions. They play a crucial role in maintaining safe driving by keeping the windshield clear during adverse weather.
You should replace your windshield wiper blades every 6 to 12 months or as soon as you notice signs of wear. Common indicators include streaking, skipping, or squeaking across the windshield, reduced visibility during rain, or cracks and tears in the rubber. Regularly replacing wiper blades ensures clear vision in all weather conditions, helping to maintain safe driving.
To replace windshield wipers, follow these steps:
- Lift the wiper arm.
Gently pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays in a raised position. - Remove the old blade.
Locate the release tab or clip on the wiper blade where it connects to the arm. Press or slide it to unhook the blade, then slide it off. - Install the new blade.
Take the new wiper blade and align it with the hook or connector on the wiper arm. Slide it into place until you hear a click, ensuring it is securely fastened. - Lower the wiper arm.
Carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.
Repeat the process for all wipers on the vehicle, and test them to ensure they're functioning properly.
No, not all windshield wipers are the same. They come in different sizes, designs, and attachment styles to fit various vehicle models. The length of wiper blades can vary, even between the driver’s side and passenger’s side on the same vehicle. Additionally, there are different types of wipers, such as traditional frame-style blades, beam blades, and hybrid blades, each designed for different performance needs and weather conditions. It’s important to choose the correct size and type specified for your vehicle to ensure proper function and fit.
You can get new windshield wipers at a variety of places, including auto parts stores like AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, or O'Reilly Auto Parts. Many big-box retailers, such as Walmart or Target, also sell wiper blades in their automotive sections. Additionally, car dealerships, online retailers like Amazon, and automotive service centers like Metro Motor often carry a range of windshield wipers to accommodate most vehicle makes and models. It's important to consult your vehicle’s manual or ask for assistance to find the right size and type for your car, van, or truck.
